Location
Eastern section of the state in Florence County.
US Highways 378, 52 and SC 341 intersect in Lake City.
Lake City is located only 23 miles south of Florence, 63 miles west of Myrtle Beach, 89 miles north of historic Charleston, and 78 miles east of Columbia, the State's Capitol. Both Interstates 95 and 20 are within 26 miles of Lake City.

Recreation
Hunting and Fishing- Lake City offers a wide variety of game, fish, and fowl which inhabit the area woodlands and rivers. Ducks, Quail, Deer, and other small game are favorite targets of area hunters. Lake City is within an hour-drive of Myrtle Beach and the Santee Cooper Lakes.
State Parks- Area State Parks include: Lee State Park in Bishopville; Little Pee Dee State Park in Dillon and Woods Bay State Park in Olanta.

Florence County Park- Located on Lynches River in Florence County approxamatily 15 miles north of Lake City. This 669-acre popular day use park features a river swamp with towering cypress trees as well a wide variety of vegitation. Popular activites include river fishing, canoeing, nature trails, picnicing and 50 meter Olymipic-size swimming pool.

Community Activities
Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Eagle Scouts, and Brownies are offered to area children through local churches, and Ronald E. McNair Junior High School.

Law Enforcement

The Lake City Police Department consists of the following: Chief of Police, 3 Captains, 4 Lieutenants, 11 full-time Patrol Officers, 5 Dispatchers, 2 Narcotics Officers, and 2 School Resource Officers at Lake City high School. Florence County School District Three, located in lower Florence County, is the second largest of the five school districts in the county. The district is at the midpoint between Columbia and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina ? approximately 65 miles east of Columbia and 65 miles west of Myrtle Beach. The district is home to many well-known graduates, such as Challenger astronaut and physicist Dr. Ronald E. McNair and billionaire businesswoman, philanthropist and education activist Darla Moore, as well as many doctors, lawyers, educators, judges and business leaders.

South Carolina Conference of Pentecostal Holiness Churches is located at 620 South Ron McNair Blvd, in Lake City. The Conference is home to the annual Camp Meeting held in the summer. The Conference is also home to the Disaster Preparedness Kitchen that assists the Red Cross in disaster areas.
